Albert Einstein said, “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
I choose the latter. When we look at life as a precious gift where miracles happen everyday, we experience joy and can revel in the simple things. We can celebrate a simple dinner with a dear friend, a walk by the lake, or playing with a child.
To look on life in this way with total acceptance of all that happens, we can find greater peace. I believe all this, yet can get stressed and forget to savor the simple beauty of my life. Life is ever expressing itself whether in the blossoming of a flower or the laughter of a child. If I am feeling rushed or stressed, I miss these things.
Moms, you are busy people. You may get stressed keeping up with the pace of your life, caring for the kids, and possibly working as well. Do you remember to savor the sweet moments along the way? Do you wake with a sense of wonder at what the day will hold and go to bed at night smiling in gratitude for the simple abundance in your life? If not, perhaps you are moving too quickly and not being fully present in your life.
I have done this too many times and often end up sick or run down. When I take time to rest, I feel better and remember the importance of slowing down, self-nurturing and simply enjoying myself.
I mentioned once before my practice of writing a gratitude list each night before going to bed. This reminds me to savor the simple things.
I decided recently to start my day with some simple breathing while lying in bed to remind me what a gift life is. I can then start the day in gratitude, inviting in a sense of wonder and joy.
Find your own ways to savor each day, celebrating the life you have.
