I love relaxing!
Funny thing is, I don’t do it much. For me, relaxing is taking a walk outside, reading a good novel, or lying down with my legs up the wall. It always feels so good.
I don’t know about you, but I feel like there just isn’t enough time to relax. There are so many things to do! As a mom, you may relate to this.
Working, taking care of small children, driving your older kids to all their activities- each makes the to-do list. Relaxing not only should be on that list, it should be a priority every day.
I’m here to tell you there's time. There's an abundance of time in each day if you're willing to ask for and receive help, slow down and take care of mom, a.k.a. you.
My husband and stepkids are great about helping out, especially when I ask. Then it's easier to find time for me. I can do what I want. I do my best when I use some of that time to relax.
Give yourself permission to relax. We can always find something else to do that seems so important. Relaxing each day is just as important. It recharges us and helps us feel good. That's when we do our best.
You may choose to take a half-hour power nap or sit down with a good book. Whatever you choose, enjoy it. Guilt? You'll laugh at it when you fully realize (not just the 'yeah I know, but' realization) that taking care of you is just as important as taking care of anyone else. You’re the mom.
Moms don't have the luxury of depending on anyone else to take care of mom. Like everything else in most families, it falls back on you. And if you don't get it done...
You'll have more energy and feel less stress by simply allowing yourself some relaxation each day. And the funny thing is you'll realize you get more done... and feel better too!
Think of a few ways you like to relax and choose one or two. Do them this week.
When you reconnect with being quiet, you will notice your life changing. You can become more aware and creative when you relax regularly. I find I become a better listener when I am relaxing regularly.
So relax, breathe and say “Yes” to some time for YOU.
